"I reserved a non-smoking room and paid for it in advance and noted that it would be a late check in. We got there around 9:30 ish or later and the clerk gave us a smoking room! I would suggest expedia lets you know that after booking you will be asked for your credit card and to scan your ID via an incoming email.
