"Spotless, grand Victorian home. Just about the most welcoming and helpful host/manager you could hope to meet - there were plenty of suggestions for activities in the area and how to get around. Right on the edge of town, which itself wasn't huge. All sorts of small amenities were on offer."

"A clean and newly furbished property managed by a capable and hospitable lady, serving good English breakfast. Our guest room with ensuite is facing the opposite side of the main road, so is quiet. The host also provides each guest a Business Parking Permit for free marking in a nearby council car park, which can also be used in other council car parks of the same council including one in Grasmere."

"The hotel is in a very good location with local shops and restaurants very nearby. Its near the waterfalls and lake. Staff very nice. One minor things no cooked breakfast on offer but I could do with losing a few pounds."

"Love staying at Dorchester House. Lorraine is such a wonderful host, always helping with any information we need and goes out of her way to help me with storing my luggage before checkin and after checkout.The location is fantastic, just next to the Town centre and bus stops. The street is well-lit and safe to roam even when dark. The room is super cosy and the bedding is clean and so comfortable that my kids would love sleep-in instead of going out and about. "Amazing host who catered for my dietary needs without any fuss. Room was spotless with comfy beds. Breakfast was AMAZING, really set us up for a day on the fells. Our dog was fussed over by Pru and we were all made to feel very welcome. The perfect host and location for exploring the Eastern Fells and surrounding area."

"Lovely coay B&B. Decor is modern but in theme with the lake district. Lots of little home comforts included. The owners are very friendly and cant do enough for you. Breakfast was very good and all cooked to order with a hige range to choose from. Rooms are lovely and its in a great location. free parking too which is a big plus point."

"It was clean and well presented, the owners were very friendly and helpful, the room was warm and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, fairly spacious with a most excellent shower. We missed breakfast the first morning due to taking part in an event, but found they had left us some bananas and apples for us. We had the full breakfast the next day which was spot on. And they have their own parking spots for 4 cars! Definitely will use again , as we had a lovely stay. "

"What a great find. The perfect stop off on our way to the Highlands. The room (room 5) was incredibly spacious and clean. The service was friendly and genuine and the food was well cooked and great value. The breakfast in particular was clearly cooked to order and piping hot. Definitely recommend this place. "

"Fabulous b&b recently bought by new owners who were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious…full Cumbrian, vegetarian or breakfast sandwiches all accompanied by fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal and toast. All produce locally sourced which i love. We had single rooms which were small but more than adequate in size as a base. Lovely crisp, high quality bedding and luxury pure lakes toiletries."
