"Although the decor and building felt a bit dated - lots of dark wood and patterned carpets - it was very clean and the staff were brilliantly friendly - remembering our names to greet us in the morning. The breakfast was straightforward and tasty and arrived quickly - loved the fact that there was cake on the breakfast buffet! It was quiet at night too. Had to air the room as there was condensation on the inside of the sash windows but wondered if that was because it wasn't possible to double-glaze them. It was plenty warm enough in chilly March and had a lovely warm shower and big fluffy towels. The room itself didn't have a lot of space for storage, just a small slightly musty cupboard which we didn't use in the end. It would have been nice to have some herbal tea and biscuits in the room. I think it's generally quite expensive to stay in the lakes as this was more than we would normally pay to stay but the location was excellent for walking and Ambleside itself. "
