"We stayed as a couple on a pleasure trip. We have stayed here many times over the years and I would say that the rooms are need a refresh now. They are clean though. The breakfast was good although the selection seemed smaller then previously. The staff are pleasant and helpful. We would return."

"1st room we were allocated was noisy because of extractor fans on the mezzanine roof just below our window and air trapped in the radiator. Allocated a 2nd room, which was much better, but some noise from the extractor fans still audible. Breakfast service ok, although a number of items not available because they had run out of stock. Dinner in the restaurant not a good experience. Extremely slow service (nearly an hour between starter and main course) and poor communication from the staff regarding delay. Portion size of fish main course extremely small for the money paid"

"The breakfast was fresh and good standard. Sausages were nice and a level above the usual catering tat you usually get at hotels. Staff were good and pleasant. The actual booking and stay was a SHAMBLES. The hotel had OVERBOOKED THEMSELVES. I had booked a room with a queen bed and the room was given to another customer before I got there. That’s completely wrong and disgusting. Also it’s very incompetent of a hotel to overbook themselves. I am not comfortable in a single bed, which is what I was given. I would think twice about staying here again after the utter mess up of this. I only booked a night and a large, comfortable bed and I didn’t have a comfortable night at all. The Holiday Inn would be where I’d choose to stay another time. "

"First time I have stayed here. Very convenient for shops, pubs and other amenities. Hotel itself is ok. Friendly staff, decent size rooms, clean. Parking was adequate but awkward, especially if arriving later, as spaces are limited and very narrow. Although not my first choice of hotels in Notts, I would recommend bearing in mind the above."

"After getting checked in by a not very helpful member of staff and paying the car parking charge we made our way up to our room via the stairs as one of the lifts was out of service and was a big queue for the other one. We entered the tiny room that you get provided, checked out the bathroom and it was grim, full of mould looks like someone had peed in the shower and just generally untidy. Went back to reception lugging all our stuff back down the stairs to ask for a new room, was met with the same unhelpful staff member who didn’t even seem like she wanted to change our room until the other staff member stepped in and said to change the room. New room wasn’t the best either with some staining on the curtains which I don’t even want to think what it was and a shower which you had to turn off 4 times throughout the shower to let it drain, but we couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of going back down so put up with it. The rooms look very tired and are very small definitely not what you expect from a 4* hotel I assume they only get that rating from the rest of the facilities they provide? Went downstairs to grab our free drink we got given for the problem with the room to be met by a woman on the bar who clearly didn’t want to be in work that day with the reception we got from her! Next morning we got woke up by drums coming from downstairs not sure what was going on, but the rooms are no where near noise proof at all so I recommend bringing some earplugs."
