Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone

"The Radison Blu was a very upscale hotel sitting right on the River Shannon in Atlone. A short walk across bridge to Castle & old town. The room was quiet, clean & well appointed . We appreciated them being able to allow us early check in. The Double overlooking the River was quite large & the bathroom very updated. While it is supposed to have air conditioning, it is controlled centrally and only turned on at the facility discretion. Our room was quite warm & when I called about it, I was offered a fan. I did find that the windows opened which also offered some relief. The other thing I disliked was that WiFi was unsecured. In this age, security is paramount and I feel any WiFi offered should be password secured. They have a quite elaborate leisure center included in stat which includes use of bicycles. The gentleman running that was very friendly & helpful."

"Really enjoyed our stay in Athlone Springs in what turned out to be different circumstances that what we were supposed to be in town for. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to look after our needs. The pool was a great service and one our little man really enjoyed. If we are back in that part of the country we would not hesitate in staying there."

"Absolutely amazing time at the County Arms as Doolys was having some renovations. We had an excellent breakfast and used the Springs facilities which included swimming, sauna, steam room and a jacuzzi. Overall we cannot say enough about our stay apart from "Thanks a million" 💖"

"We stayed here for one night with friends and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. The facilities were also excellent. Unfortunately, our experience at dinner let things down slightly. One of the meals (a double smash burger) was completely inedible and was returned, yet it still appeared on the final bill and was charged in full. This was raised at the time and should have been removed. We were also told during a conversation about tipping that staff do not receive tips and that there is no point in leaving one. If this is the case, it’s quite disappointing and not something guests would expect. Overall, a nice hotel and an enjoyable stay, but these issues did take away from what would otherwise have been a great experience."
