The very first cast-iron pier dates from 1894, but was destroyed in the First World War. In 1933 a new, concrete pier was built, which underwent a thorough renovation in 2003. The Belgium Pier was the first on the Atlantic coast of the European mainland and has since then only been joined by Scheveningen (Netherlands). #Culture
