Price was great for the area. Lodge was close to university and several bus stops. Whatcom public transportation is very easy to use, runs frequently to every where and is extremely safe. Lodge was a bit run down and outdated, but housekeeping was top notch and kept rooms clean and fresh. Breakfast was sparse, but adequate.

Property is really run down and there is a lot of deferred maintenance. Room 119 bathroom was old and broken counter, floor, and door. Won’t stay there again.

Susan at the front desk was wonderful, friendly and helpful! Waffle cooked to order for breakfast was great. The facility is old, but it was clean. Bed was comfortable. However, the long-term tenants are a bit sketchy, and sharing the breakfast area with a woman who played her phone at an unacceptable volume level was unpleasant. She obviously had some disability, but I think the staff should have handled it.

The staff is friendly and helpful and it's easy walking access to a variety of dining options. Rooms are a bit dated and older and they have smoking rooms so the halls have a lingering order of smoke but ok for the price.

I would have given 5 stars to property conditions and facilities but they are still working on updates which are great and much needed. Hot tub and sauna were in clean working order. Water pressure great with plenty of hot water. Didn't know that they had a continental breakfast with fresh made to order waffles and coffee, so that was a pleasant surprise. Thai, Mexican, coffee options near.
