Mũi d'Or

A great place to go for a day trip in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Cape D'Or lighthouse on the Bay of Fundy is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the journey and never crowded. Perfect location to enjoy some peace and quiet while taking in the ocean scenery and tall cliffs along the coastline. To see one of the best sunsets, it's best to stay the night. There is a seasonal restaurant and small inn at the lighthouse keepers buildings.

A daytime shot of the dramatic 200m cliffs at Cape d'Or at the entrance to the Minas Basin. According to Wikipedia, the name Cape d'Or came from French explorers who witnessed the bright native copper deposits that appeared golden.

Located near Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia, the Cape d'Or Lighthouse sits atop a basalt reef in the Bay of Fundy. There is a great restaurant and guest house on site if you are looking for a unique Nova Scotia vacation experience. The current concrete lighthouse was built in 1965.

Amazing spot to watch the sunset and/or sunrise. One cabin is a place you can't rent out and the other is a little cafe/restaurant. I always go on off-season so both are always closed. Will update once I go and they're open!

A bit of a tricky road to get to the Cape d'Or Lighthouse, but well worth the trip. The restaurant onsite is also quite delicious! The only thing better than a lighthouse with a view is a lighthouse with a view plus dinner. 😋

Refugee Cove at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, Nova Scotia...about 4 hours and 12km into a three-day hike around the park's 52km Coastal Trail. Enjoyed a lunch break on the ocean floor at low tide in the Bay of Fundy. Travelled light around the trail with just an Olympus TG-4 compact camera for photos.

This is the view overlooking the Bay of Fundy from the tip of Cape Split, Nova Scotia. A nice 13 kilometers return hike to the end of the cape. The trail is well maintained, but watch the weather as it can be sunny at the trail head and then be foggy at the end. There are some trails down the cliffs to the coastline as well, but be very aware of the tides as many people have been stranded due to the fast tides.
