We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be cruising through the airport and enjoying Boshoek in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and something to read. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any vital medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for easy-to-remove footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
