Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Geelong holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be easy if you've got all the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and something to read. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, your important medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like golf clubs, and items that could harm other people, such as guns and swords, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and go for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
