Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organised. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Ikaria holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you take the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and something to read. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any vital medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, drills, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like ski poles, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and swords, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by donning layers, and wear closed-toe, flat footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
