Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Kilkenny holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be easy if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and pack a cardigan in case it gets cold in the cabin. Pick a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the stilettos and heavy boots in your luggage.
- Most travellers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. There's plenty you can do to mitigate your risk. Don a pair of compression socks, drink lots of water often and move your legs and feet. Walk the aisles of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
