Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Kohatu escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a great experience if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good read. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and go for shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
