If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be daunting. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these useful tips for a pleasant start to your getaway in Lowlands. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive goods, such as fuel and matches, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your top priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
