Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Manitou Beach could be a breeze or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some useful hints that will help you start your next great escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare set of clothes and a good novel. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Pick flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to take a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
