If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be daunting. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips for a trouble-free start to your getaway in Puerto Gaitán.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your highest priority when picking what to wear during your flight. Consider your footwear choice with care too, as swollen ankles and feet can be a side effect of flying. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy are your best bet.
- A condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks is also recommended.
