We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our top tips and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and discovering Solitaire in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, like aerosols and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Choose shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- The result of prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers during long-haul flights. Reduce the risks by staying hydrated, keeping your feet and legs moving and wearing compression tights or socks.
