"The problems 1 having paid extra for room with a view of the harbour this was completely destroyed by the view if the adjacent flat roof broken tiles and multiple AC units. 2. No Ac unit in this room Windows that effectively didn’t open ( 1/4 in only) Late afternoon sun And someone had left the heated towel rail on Also a winter weight 10.5 tog quilt on the bed. No sheets So obviously the room never cooled down. Having 3 noisy fans was just an indication if problems and were of minimal help"

"The biggest issue was : no Air Conditioning. Very hot room and corridors. Other issues were small, but added up: Kids playing in reception/compass/entrance, shower door wrong way around, shower not draining, bar staff not always available, one lift not working - little things that could easily improve with care and attention, which you would expect at a good hotel."

"A relaxing feel runs through the hotel and out into the gardens. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Herons love it too! The staff were smiley and attentive, Our room was clean and the towels soft and fluffy. We made use of the spa facilities every day. The pool temperature was great for us."

"Overall reasonably good. Room was fine, but the air conditioning didn't work (a problem in a number of rooms that weekend). Check-in was very slow, said to be because of a new computer system. Quiet, sea view (it was 5th floor and extra). Also, and as with a previous room, the shower drained very slowly and the outlet was pretty bunged up with hair (don't look!).
