Adventure somewhere over the rainbow. After a 2-day, 17-mile trek around Nevado Ausangate we arrived at Vinicunca, also known as Montaña de Siete Colores, or Rainbow Mountain. This mountain sits a little over 16,000 feet and was only recently discovered after the snow and ice covering the mountain thawed. The rainbow colors are caused by different minerals deposited in the soil. If you plan on taking an adventure to this location, a few days of acclimation to higher altitude in Cusco is advised. #Peru #Adventure #Vinicunca

The Rainbow Mountain of Peru, also known as Vinicunca, are stunning and can be seen on the spectacular Ausangate Trek. The hike will begin at 3‘700m and end at 5‘200m. Its‘s a 4 hour hike and not to be underestimated, because of the thin air. But it‘s really worth it!

Nevado Ausangate is considered the holiest mountain in the Cusco Region of Peru. This adventure included a 2-day, 17-mile trek covering two mountain passes at 16,400 feet. The trek was one of the most strenuous hikes I’ve ever done, mostly due to the altitude, but provided some of the most rewarding views I’ve ever seen. If you’re visiting from lower altitudes, be sure to take the time to acclimatize. #Peru #Adventure #Ausangate #Andes
