"The hotel is in a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were staying in the heatwave and there was no aircon and the windows only opened a limited amount so it was too hot to sleep normally. Wasn’t helped by someone turning on the heated towel rail when we reported the bathroom extractor fan wasn’t working. I would potentially stay again but not in hot weather"
"Had a lovely bank holiday weekend at this hotel . we were upgraded to rooms over looking the beach - which was amazing .
the hotel is situated opposite the beach, in between the pier and bandstand - so perfect location . Theres no parking but if you pay £2.50 to the hotel you get a permit for 24 hours and we were lucky enough to park across the road .
Staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful
they had a man playing piano in the evenings which was lovely and he was very knowledgable on all types of pianists which he made very interesting
We were able to listen and watch the tribute acts that were on at the bandstand
Wouldnt hesitate to return !"
"Location is amazing. Property was clean just one advise to staff they should really allow guest to keep luggage and not upset them over they don't have space etc. as over all experience was really really good just on last min when checking out I had to really convince staff to keep my bags."
"We had a wonderful stay. Every member of staff we met was super helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was great with a fantastic view of the sea. Breakfast was really nice and great view of the sea also We would stay again, no hesitation!"
"Room was extremely clean but room was very hot, little fan in the room but wasn’t much of help. Also no cold water in the shower but overall was a good stay"
"Really amazing hotel, much better than I expected
Rooms are very big, high ceiling and right in front of the sea for an amazing sea view .
Highly recommended and will use this again.
Big thanks to Mark for welcoming us despite us coming very late and the receptionists were super too! (Didn't catch either name)
Rooms are clean and all staff are very helpful and great
Keep up the amazing hospitality!"
"We had stayed before and everything about the hotel remained good except, this time, the food and drink service, while always friendly and polite, was glacially slow. I had to keep reminding staff of orders because I didn't know if things were coming or not, whether in the restaurant or a bar area. Even a beer could take 20 minutes, and on one breakfast I had to ask four times over nearly half an hour before coffee and milk for cereal was brought to the table. The same happened the next day, I had to remind them to bring coffee and a menu so that we could order. Not very 'grand'. When I mentioned it on check-out the receptionist said I could with-hold the service charges if I liked, but I didn't want to penalise staff for what were clearly systemic shortcomings. She didn't apologise, just said they were very busy. In that case, get more staff or give time-slots for meals. We thought we had found a hotel we could return to many times and recommend, but probably won't now."
"We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia there was an additional charge which we had to pay. Also, spa shower not working. If all this had been clear on the website we wouldn't have booked.
No lifts and no help to carry luggage. Whilst I accept the sq ft of our room is on the website, it really is a shock how small it is. For a single traveller it might be Ok but for a couple with luggage in my opinion it's not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel. If you are a couple then I strongly suggest you avoid this room. While some rooms have air conditioning, this room does not and it's very uncomfortable at night in hot weather. It would make a good cupboard.
The location of the hotel is excellent but it is a bit out the way with no restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity. Inside the hotel there is no specific bar/lounge area, just a pool room that could be utilised better. There is a lovely outside bar/restaurant area with sea views but the service is abysmal. Expect long waits to be served or get your bill."
