"Due to the holiday season, reception closed at 15:00 hours, so check in was thru an envelope. Rooms are very spacious, bed and showers are good, but it is an ancient structure and building, so don’t expect modern rooms or furniture. Staff when available was very helpful. Great to walk around the area. "

The location is convenient and everything is easily walkable. The only challenge I encountered was that parking can be limited when the hotel is fully booked but street parking can be found. + mini bar (empty), coffee machine and kettle in the room
+ good quality of breakfast (4 types of bread, meats, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, hard boiled eggs)

I have two small concerns:
- Sound isolation between rooms is not perfect, I could clearly hear the TV from the neighbour room.
- Mini bar is plugged to a normal socket, so it switches off when...
"We are a big family and were welcomed with open arms. Hotel Balsthal is a charming, modern hotel with a rustic feel to it.
We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be back.
Staff is very welcoming to children and went above and beyond to accommodate our little ones.
It is surrounded by beautiful nature trails and old castles to visit.
