"The room was great. Very clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The hotel is on the main road, so can be quite loud outside at times but they provide ear plugs (I travel with my own and with an eye mask in case places are loud and bright). I was worried about the bed as I'd read a review that said they were super soft, but apart from being a little softer than I'd personally choose it was fine and I slept well. "

"Nice tidy and clean room that looked like it had been recently fitted out. Decent sized Kitchen at each end of the corridor i didn't use them but they looked fully kitted out and new. The hotel is on a quiet residential street but took me 5mins to walk into the town centre which has loads of bars, shops and restaurants. Worth calling ahead of arrival and they'll reserve you a parking spot (There aren't many spots) Nice bloke on reception showed us our rooms and kindly found me a fan. "

"The Marlborough is a pub with tasty food and about five rooms for overnight stays. The staff is outstanding and does everything possible to be helpful. It is on a central street of a very small town, so it can be a bit noisy during the day and early evening, but is quiet at night. The rooms have nice versions of all the basics, including a good bed and excellent shower. There are few extra amenities beyond the room and pub, although the breakfast was very good. "Excellent hotel if you have to catch the ferry in the morning. The lady who welcomed us is very friendly. She let us have our take-away meal at the table downstairs and even supplied us with cutlery and glasses."

"I’ve stayed in several places in Colchester to access the university. This is by far the best. Easy free parking. Lovely and clean. Modest but plentiful breakfast. Comfortable clean beds. Large rooms and everything included. Iron and board. Hairdryer. Toiletries and towels. Good deals on several sites. Always affordable with free breakfast. "
