Old property that needs a facelift. Nice owner but office was locked until late in the second day. Hard to check out. No breakfast served and pool was closed.

We didn’t stay room had extension cord with frig ang microwave running into the bathroom plug so you couldn’t shut bathroom door 3 extension cords for tv no ice machine pool was drained with dirt in deep end no one else there

We called to tell them that it would be a late check in, nobody answered so we left a message. Hotel was closed when we got there. No response from phone calls. Had to go and find somewhere else to stay for the night. Expedia needs to update their info!!

Everything is the same as before: comfortable and a practical choice. However, breakfast is no longer served, unlike before. The ads should be updated to reflect that.

Excellent stay . beautiful area, nice people , clean comfortable rooms. Pleasant employees and a nice breakfast. Quiet area with alot to do all around.will definitely go back.

Would not stay here again

This hotel is so ugly and outdated. !We asked for a room with either a queen or king bed but was told none of the rooms had anything bigger than a double. Room had an overwhelming musty smell. If it hadn't been late, and we hadn't been 3 hours from home, we would driven home instead of staying here

A Major Let Down

We spent the last three years coming her for the festival FreshGrass in North Adams. Not really close but reasonable priced and adequate comfort. This year was a disaster. From the mice running around outside, to the carpet in the room which was not vacuumed in days, if not weeks, it was poor. When we mentioned that room had not been cleaned during the first day - no cups, or coffee, or towels, or bedsheets - not even a quick freshen up, we were told that it was done every other day and that there was a new person on the job. It sounded like an excuse for poor management. The apples at breakfast we mushy, the electronic keys stopped working night.... need I go on. We paid more than the standard rate during the festival time which is fine, but this place was not worth it.

Rooms need updating

The staff was nice, the lobby was large and pleasant, and the breakfast was good but the room was very old and smelly. The curtain wand fell off when we tried to close them because the top of the curtain was torn. The furniture was old and minimal and the carpet was old and dirty. It just smelled old and musty. I would not recommend it.

Nice place and location, but...

Very nice staff, excellent location close to the highest point in Massachusset, large rooms and decent breakfast. The only problem is whoever doing the cleaning is doing a bad job! Finger prints in many places such as mirrors and windows, strong smell of a cleaning detergent and some areas was sprayed with it but not wiped out, fridge not clean, bathroom mainly clean but missed many spots such as the behind the bowl, mixer not working in the tub and towels did not have the fresh clean smell like most hotels! Otherwise everything else was good.

Present owner renovating...very neat and clean...

Historic motel,allowed to deteriorate, now slowly being restored by determined owner. Pets allowed . Comfortable beds and clean, well lit bathrooms. Needs new towels and a small freezer in the fridge.

Worn and weary rooms

Room was sloppily painted in places, and carpets, furniture cushions had stains. Dust on dresser and TV, bathroom was worn and aged. Tile dirty in the bath. A motel that has not aged well.

Find another place to stay

This hotel was quite disappointing, and I would not recommend staying here. The staff forgot to clean our room and replace/linens and towels when we returned to the room late at night after a day out. The mini-fridge froze all of our food and beverages, including expensive craft beer. The temperature adjustment knob was missing. The shower is an old-style, three-knob affair, and the shower/bath knob was nearly impossible to turn on/off. The heating unit was unusually loud. On the plus side, the room was relatively quiet, and the mattress was comfortable. Upon checking out I told the manager about the above issues (especially No. 1) and requested a refund of one-night's fees (we stayed for 2). He offered a 10 percent discount, which was unacceptable. We eventually settled on a 20% discount. I waited about 10 minutes for him to process the invoice, which he was never able to do ("Terrible system," he said), so he gave me $40 in cash. Frankly, I'm not sure what I ended up paying. I believe this place was once charming. Today, it is dilapidated and poorly run. You can find something better!

This hotel is in need of an update. Bed linens were clean, but chair and carpet needed to be cleaned wicked! Tolerable for a night or two.

Cute Vintage Look Outside, Dirty Inside

Great price and a good location for the scenic drives in upper MA and VT. Outside of the lodge looked vintage but clean. Unfortuently the room we stayed in was dirty. Lots of stains on the carpet and furniture. The sheets had not been washed (found hairs). The fridge had black mold inside.

Clean and friendly

The hotel was great for what we needed. We had been on the road for a while and just needed a place to stop for the night. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. The beds weren't the most comfortable but were clean. Watch the showers, they go from really hot to really cold several times throughout the shower, there is no in between. The breakfast consisted of cereal, muffins, milk, coffee, and juice. The hotel is secluded. Like I mentioned earlier, it was all we needed for a night.

great value for your money

This hotel is wonderful and surprisingly affordable. Great food and shopping right in the premises and around. The room is big, super clean and the bed very comfortable.

Hotel was nice. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were terrible to soft, Staff was very nice even went out of there way to please you. Rooms were pretty clean only thing was we ended up killing some spiders. All in all not to bad for the money.

Alright place for the night.

Is it a bit out of the way? Is it s bit outdated? Are the rooms a bit on the musty side? But is it a good value? Answer to all above is yes. Good value for the berkshires. Needs some updates, but heck --- if you want The Ritz then you probably shouldn't be reading the reviews for anywhere anyway.

Needs updating.

The location and the staff were great. The beds were comfortable, but there was a musty odor to the room, with obvious mold in the fridge and the bathroom. With updating and cleaning it would be a nice place to stay.
