"I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully cared for. The cleanliness stood out immediately. Every space, from the rooms to the dining areas, was spotless and beautifully maintained. It created a sense of calm and comfort that made it easy to relax. The staff were exceptional. Kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they made the entire experience feel personal without ever being intrusive. Their hospitality added something special to the stay. The food was outstanding. Dinner was rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and breakfast was just as impressive, with fresh, high-quality options that made for a perfect start to the day. Each meal felt intentional and well-crafted. And then there are the views. Whether looking out from the window in the early morning light or watching the sunset settle over the surrounding landscape, the setting is simply beautiful. It is peaceful, scenic, and deeply restorative. This is a place I would return to without hesitation, and one I would highly recommend to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and a truly memorable experience."

"We were hesitant to write a review of our experience staying in this hotel, however i feel this must be known for future guests if they are considering staying in this hotel. We were told on the day of arrival that they don't have hot water, and heating system has broken down. We were also told we were the only 2 guests in the hotel. The owner of the hotel replied he doesn't know when this will get fixed and most likely will be after we leave. We found it hard to believe, as a running business this cannot be fixed as soon as possible, or fixed on the same day. We endured 3 nights and 4 days showering with cold water. There was no heating system and we were given a portable heater only. On our last day we were leaving, we learned he was expecting guests with a young family arriving the same day. It was clear from that day we felt fooled and cheated by the owner for purposely turning the heating system off as we were the only 2 adult guests there in the whole hotel. We thought to ourselves surely the guests with young children will require hot water and heating. After reading the most recent review its seems obvious our thoughts were right, the owner can't be bothered to turn on the water heating system for us because we are only 2 adult guests, maybe to save money. There was no mention of no hot water or heating system from the young family so i would assume it was turned on back for them, very dissapointing for us and in a way has spoilt our stay."

"The staff were great from check in to check out. The location is ideal for walking everywhere, and they have large parking areas. The indoor pool is a nice touch to have when it’s late and you want to get out of your room. I forgot my adapters for my charging cable and they had them. The balcony’s in the room also smoking allowed. They also have a toy area for children which my daughter enjoyed. The restaurant is nice too, and the wait staff are very kind. Overall I will stay here again when I visit the Black Forest. "

"For the price you pay, it’s not bad. The decor may need an update, but the pictures online are true to form. My only real gripe was the plastic mattress protector on the obviously new mattress- you’ll wake up in a pool of sweat in the middle of the night. Nevertheless, I still give my overall experience 5 stars because of the hotel’s staff. They went above and beyond to help me from restaurant reservations, what points of interest to see, and even printed several documents I needed for me. At the end of the day, a hotel is really just a fungible service - a bed to sleep in. The difference is service. I would definitely recommend. "

"The outside of the hotel look very quaint and German and was really looking forward to very traditional stay. One of our rooms was on the top floor and the room was huge, too big if all honest, the room had a bed, small sofa, small table but so so much empty space the room lacked any feel and was cold, there is such a thing as too big and too empty. The shower was nice. My friend was in a room on 2nd floor and was smaller and a little nicer but these room in the older building need renovating and bringing to life. The new part of the hotel across the road is very modern. The rooms lack any hot drinking facilities which I have never experienced in a hotel. The maids leave water but it’s always sparkling and I tried to explain I needed still but the next day was sparkling again!!! The restaurant food was nice. Breakfast was nice but maybe a little bland. The owner of the hotel was present at breakfast and she was very welcoming. I want to love the hotel but the rooms really let it down for me. "

"Staff was outstanding. I’d like to mention the little lady at breakfast. She was so pleasant and nice to talk to. Another lady who stood out was the blonde lady at dinner who was very attentive and friendly! And the young man who helped us in the mornings since he spoke English the best. Thank you!"

"I stumbled upon Sombea during a trip through Southern Germany, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. The staff is helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is delicious. If I find that my travels take be back to the Schwarzwald, I will be staying at Sombea again."
