"The Quinta da Moita is out of the way of the Douro Valley but well worth the detour. I stayed there 3 nights on a solo trip. The owners are fantastic, very sweet. The place is perfect for quiet respite, clean rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast! I recommend to anyone for solo stay or couple gateaway! Their wines are great too! Just make sure to have food for dinner if you want to relax for the evening as everything is pretty far. But the drive is gorgeous and fun! "

"We stayed three nights at Aldeia de Cuada in mid-October. The atmosphere and vibe of this restored old village is calm and exactly what we wanted. The valley surrounding the village is full of lush vegetation and waterfalls and was a great home base to visit Flores. For $10 Euros/morning you can start the day off with the best breakfast and go exploring. Their pool is heated, you can take old trails to surrounding villages and the must see Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro is right around the corner....
