"The staff are friendly and eager to assist you with anything you need.
The resort is very far north of town and the ride is not easy. The beach was unusuable due to Sargassum. We were there for 3 nights and only once did we see a couple of young men trying to clear the beach but they made ZERO impact. The smell is awful.
The accommodations are dark and dated. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 1 bath second floor unit. My kids said the smaller bedroom was like a prison cell. Very dark and bland and yes, there was a window. The master bedroom King size bed had an extremely soft foam mattress that I could to sleep on. I swapped with my son and slept in the prison cell. Haha
The restaurant was OK. Breakfast was good. Lunch was meh. Never had dinner there."
"Great stay at Casa Nova . Great hosts. Delicious breakfast served daily. Dinner is optional, we had dinner most of the evenings of our stay. Fresh, delicious food. Jaime and Keila made our stay memorable. Private beach, crystal clear water, paddle board. Private, quiet, and relaxing. We will come back! "
"Ronna was an incredible host. From the initial greeting until we checked out she was a perfect part of our trip. She gave great food tips and even had food delivered for us. We wish we could have stayed longer. I guarantee that we shall return. "
"We traveled as a family of 4 and stayed in the suite which included 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a family room with a fridge. There are many great things to note, the space is as described “a jungle resort.” We were immersed in the jungle vibe with coconut trees, all sorts of birds and other wildlife. Our room included made to order breakfast, which was always delicious and we opted to dine in the tree house. The kids enjoyed the pools and I loved the mineral bath. The hosts were very accommodating and there is a restaurant on premises. Special shoutout to Gloria, Benito and Orlando, they made our stay worth it.
Things to be mindful of, it’s a hidden gem so a bit secluded and the roads getting in are full of pot holes. It’s about an hour drive from the airport and they offer pickup and drop off services. We opted to rent a car which was helpful. There is a spa, we didn’t have an opportunity to try it but I heard great things.

"The bartender Eddie saved the day. He’s the pool bartender. The food nor the beach did it for us. We checked out 2 days earlier. Although it was nonrefundable we chose to leave and enjoy the city. The sea grass swarmed the beach. It was so smelly I couldn’t smell my perfume daily. For the price we paid the food wasn’t good at all. The best thing on the menu was the cheese burger. Didn’t receive a welcome drink or hot towel. Very disappointing "
"The property is beautifully designed with its gardens and trails throughout. Our casita was nice and spacious. Cleanliness is definitely an issue around the property. People just dump their garbage everywhere along the beach, very sad. The beaches were gorgeous otherwise but it's good to know that the water, despite its serene color on pictures is quite murkey and there's nothing to see if you like snorkeling. The snorkel reefs are about a 1.5-2h boat ride away. We were a bit disappointed upon arrival when we were charged a very high rate for getting picked up at the ferry about 25 min away, which was not mentioned to us. We also thought the restaurant and dining experience was not as serene as advertised in the photos, many tables are plastic folding tables and basic plastic chairs which kinda killed the ambiance. The food was delicious though, we enjoyed their breakfast and dinner options. Most staff was pretty friendly and helpful. "

Portofino Beach Resort on the north side of San Pedro is truly a hidden gem—perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay while still being close enough to enjoy the fun of Secret Beach.
I traveled with my mom, and from the very beginning, the experience was seamless. Even before we arrived, the communication was excellent—they made sure every detail for our beachfront cabana was just right. When we got there, we were welcomed with cocktails, which immediately set the tone for a warm, elevated experience.
We stayed in Cabana #6, and I can’t say enough about how beautiful and well-kept everything was. The room was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and felt like a true retreat. You could tell they really care about the details.
A huge shoutout to Faura and Rosita at the front desk—they were absolutely exceptional. From pre-arrival communication to in-person service, they went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of every step of the way.
The food was incredible, and I especially loved the light continental breakfast included with the stay—it was the perfect, easy start to each day in paradise.
Whether you’re traveling solo, with a partner, or with family like I was, this place offers such a beautiful and relaxing escape. Belize never disappoints, and San Pedro continues to be one of my favorite places to return to. This was my first stay at Portofino, and it definitely won’t be my last.
Highly recommend☀️"
