Ramada Hotel Schwerin
This is a good hotel, geared mainly toward their German clientele. Regardless of what their marketing says, this is a decent two star hotel, not a four star, and priced accordingly. Once you accept that it's a good place to stay, and I would recommend it.
Pluses:
* Very clean, well maintained.
* Good location on the outskirts of Schwerin, although not too convenient without a car.
* Good grocery store directly behind the hotel. We got breakfast fixings (stored perishables in the minibar) as an alternative to their pricey breakfast.
* Pizza shop also directly behind the hotel, for a quick and easy dinner in the room.
Minuses:
* Being geared to German clients, all the TV channels are in German. No international news channels.
* No coffeemaker/electric kettle in the rooms.
* There is WiFi in the rooms, but it's rather pricey (currently 5 Euros/hour, 35 Euros/30 day plan).
* Rooms on the front side get quite a bit of traffic noise from the main road outside. As there is no other ventilation, you really need to open the windows in the summer. Definitely ask for a room on the back side.
Conclusion:
Maybe it sounds like I'm nitpicking, but overall it's a pretty good place, and probably as good a value as you will find in Schwerin. I would stay there again.
