"We had the most amazing lodging at Valverde, Room 1, with the private pool right on the water. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff, especially Rocio, were so attentive and friendly. The grounds were well kept. The availability of the shuttle to and from Tortuguero town worked perfectly for us. We booked a 6am canoe trip on our second day and we saw lots of birds and a cayman. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The meals were mostly good with only one exception, the beef fajitas. The meat was so tough and very difficult to chew. Every other meal, including breakfast, was great. And the location was perfect for us -- not in the heart of the town but very close to be quiet and peaceful."
