Very clean room and ensuite, short work into Thirsk. Quiet location. Ample free parking. Would be a good idea to put a menu in the room as it is an Italian restaurant as well, didn't eat there but probably would have done if there had been a menu to study at our leisure in room.

Ok, a little disappointed

Overall a nice place let down by a few avoidable issues. We were not supplied with a code number to get in,so at 1120 when we returned we couldnt get in! We had to wake another guest to get access, no staff on duty and no answer on the phone with a coded access device. The water pressure was low so the shower weak, the TV was faulty and didnt show many channels, 6 at the most, this appeared to recover the following day. No decafinated coffee supplied, no milk,so no cup of coffee in the morning. A few other minor issues. The bed was good, bedding excellent but I am not sure its a King sized bed? Looks like an Ikea bed,slightly narrow? I am not sure I would stay again at the price

I liked the fresh milk provision for rooms and the food was very good. The bathroom in Monte Guso is probably due a bit of a refresh.

Too hot duvets - rest is excellent :)

Too warm duvets, and separate duvets is a lot better! Please... That was the negative. Excellent food, friendly staff - supported with charming surroundings and atmosphere. This is ours second stay, but will come back :)

We stayed one night as part of our stop overs on a driving holiday. The room was comfortable and the staff welcoming. Very good value for money

Sweet & Sour(by) !!

Great location within walking distance of Thirsk centre. Room (Fiat) comfortable but damage to decor that could be easily fixed. Shower was appalling - either running dangerously hot or having no pressure - also the drench shower-head only suitable for persons less than 5ft tall. Nice refreshment facilities although we would have liked to have used the fridge on the shared landing to chill some wine & snacks since there was no food & drink available in the hotel (closed on Sunday when we arrived) but it was not secure. Very comfortable bed & linen. Very clean overall. Good power points. Not happy with the restaurant - two of our meals were presented with alternative ingredients and no explanation beforehand. The Penne with Sausage & Mushroom Sauce was very watery and lacked flavour. We had to ask to see the dessert menu as none of the staff offered a 3rd course. Desserts were small and over-priced - we sent the Tiramisu back as it was watery and had no flavour. We negotiated refunds on the dishes that were sub-standard so no complaints in that respect. Free off-road parking was a bonus. Really sad that Fantino's has so much potential but fell short of being a great place to stay. We'd probably give it another go but things need to be improved (I note that a previous guest remarked on the shower in Fiat several months ago and nothing has been done about it) - no point in asking for a review and failing to action the negatives.

A really nice and spacious room, very big and extremely well fitted bathroom with roll top bath. Tea, coffee and hairdryer supplied. The only slight negative was that the room felt slightly damp but we believe this was due to the lack of sunshine into the room. We had one meal, pizza, in the restaurant which was good with an Italian theme. However, we thought that a more varied menu would have allowed us to eat in there more than once during our five day stay

Disappointed

Unfortunately we were disappointed with this hotel. In our opinion it was over priced at £100 per night for a twin room with breakfast.....although the breakfast itself was very good. However the self service area for cereals, juice and marmalade was generally a very sticky and crumb laden area. Not too pleasant. We had to walk past piles of dirty linen which was awaiting collection by a laundry service for 3 days of our stay. There was no bulb in the main light in our bedroom which was not replaced until the last night of our 3 night stay. There were areas of damp were wallpaper and plaster had come off the walls both in the stairwells and the dining room. All in all not worthy of the "superb" rating on Hotels.com website.

Lovely hotel.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Quaint little courtyard, set amongst the lovely Front Street houses. Room was extremely clean and comfy. We brought our dog with us who was equally as comfy. Short walk into Thirsk Town centre. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Staffall very friendly. Very happy with our stay and we will return.

a lovely personal place to stay

it is a lovely personal hotel. the only concern we had was our room was right above the entrance and the noise carried up from the outside terrace, it was as if we had a window open, but it didn't go on till late. the staff were pleasant and friendly and setting was fabulous.
