Surfbreak Virginia Beach Oceanfront, an Ascend Collection Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"I loved our stay here, all rooms are pretty much ocean front with a balcony. Room was clean. A/C worked amazingly. Had a fridge and microwave in room. small hair dryer on wall. small bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash. we brought our own though. We were tremendously thankful for the free waters in lobby and free coffee, fruit or fruit snacks. also had tea and hot chocolate. Wish we had a smart TV so we could log in to some of our streaming apps but who comes to the beach to watch TV?? lol. Elevator can be slow at times but nothing outrageous. no zoom in mirror but I also brought my own. just trying to list things that you need to pack. I was looking for this kind of thing in the reviews before I came. showers were great, plenty of hot water. Luggage racks were easy to come by, they had a lot. free parking was great. it was a block or 2 away but better than paying valet, which they do offer. I will definitely book here again when we come back to VAB. loved that it was on the boardwalk. great great area!"
Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, an official Colonial Williamsburg Hotel
8/10 Good
"Front desknstaff ,Francisco, was excellent. Some of the buildings are being left derelict doesnt seem safe. AC is rigged and the breakfast has gone downhill since 2 years ago."
"Check in was easy, staff was very nice. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Good location, necessities within walking distance. Probably not the nicest hotel but definitely not the worst. Good experience overall."
"We stated 4 nights at the Hamptons inn on the 9th floor room 904. Maribela the housekeeper was so wonderful and attentive. Evertime we came back from the beach the room was so nice and clean refreshed with towels and all. We love the overall of the hotel experience and we will return and stay here. Thank you . We had an amazing vacation"
"The Jefferson Hotel is one of a vanishing breed of grand historic hotels that still provide the kind of hotel experience that was already becoming rare 50 years ago. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are extremely well appointed, the public spaces of the hotel are spectacular, and the restaurant is one of the best in Richmond. The hotel's only real drawback isn't its fault: the area of downtown Richmond that the Jefferson used to anchor has seriously deteriorated. Even though an effort was clearly made to try to revive Broad Street near the hotel, it's still pretty sketchy. As a result, there isn't really much of interest close to the hotel other than VCU and the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. That means that going out from the hotel -- to find other restaurants, see the sights, or hit the usual tourist destinations -- pretty much requires a car."
