"I rated my stay very high at the Mermaid Inn because it was a special detour in the very charming city of Rye. The inn was perfectly located. The food was excellent, from delicious fish and chips on the pub to a 5 star dinner in the dining room. Keep in mind this is a very old building with crooked steps and low ceilings. It may not be suitable for everyone. Our room was adorable and very comfortable. "

"Breakfast was very plentiful and tasty and the two for one happy he with cheese and biscuits was a pleasant surprise.
Wasn’t aware we needed to pay £10 for parking however. Room very spacious but was feeezing. No hearing has been put on before our arrival and we had to sit in our coats for ages before it warmed up. Very good location for visiting town on foot "

"Room had three single beds with very white linen, although my son found a very faint stain on his. Room was clean and beds were comfy. Shower very powerful! View was of a side street so not a seaview, which was disappointing. It's about 1km to town so not far, and there is a row of shops including a Sainsbury's and fish and chip shop behind the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. "

"We had a clean room, and unobstructed view of the sea, the room had no housekeeping daily, the first and last day we had a buffet breakfast, the second day it would appear that we had to order either with the cook or reception but we were not told of this, the third day the chef took our breakfast order."

"This is an okay place to stay while visiting St Leonard’s and Hastings. It seems to be a family-run place and full breakfast is provided and is good.Quick walk to the train and to the beach and laundromat. Some improvements have been made to the property which are cosmetic and actually quite silly. There was an attempt to make this old hotel look opulent while neglecting things like upgraded beds and bedding, soundproofing rooms, replacing broken window seals and fresh paint on the exterior....

"lovely clean room and helpful staff . Worth noting that there is currently scaffolding on the front of the hotel - it was not good value to pay the extra for a seaview room only to look at scaffolding !"

"We had a great stay here with a lovely view over to camber castle. This hotel is in a perfect location in the town just around the corner from the church, mermaid street and Lamb House. Outside is a lovely viewing point. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. There is a little bar downstairs which was handy for a post hike drink (lovely bar room and quiet). The breakfast - you can choose what you want which was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place in...

" I have a few comments regarding our stay. I wasn’t expecting a five star but in some ways a 3 star was a little overrated. We were greeted by the most loveliest helpful receptionist. He was 5*. It went downhill from there I’m afraid. The room was ‘ok’ but we got what we paid for. When returning from night out the night receptionist was 1* at best. He cod barely converse. The bar man assisted telling us it was his night off but would help. After drinks at bar We asked for a jug of iced water to...

"I enjoyed my one night stop here very much. From the smiles that met me upon arrival to the delicious cooked to order breakfast before departure.
Located on a quiet street midway between the station and the seafront it is in a great spot. Room was very comfortable and had everything I needed including tea/coffee and kettle.
I didn’t use but saw a cozy lounge with honesty type bar arrangement which would have been used had I stayed longer.
Breakfast in the morning served in a bright airy room...
