"I had an extremely poor experience at easyHotel Ipswich and would not stay here again. Before arrival, I contacted the hotel to add my daughter to the booking but received no response. Instead, I was sent a generic reminder to bring ID, which I did (including my passport), yet no ID was even checked on arrival. We arrived at 9:30pm and were given a room that was not suitable for a family, despite my prior request. When I raised this at reception, I was told the hotel was fully booked and that my message hadn’t even been read. This lack of communication caused immediate issues. I had to book an additional room for the following night so my daughter could have her own space, but she was then unable to check in without me being present, which created unnecessary stress. We were also travelling with a disabled guest, and the parking was a long distance away, which was completely unsuitable. The service was poor throughout. The coffee machine was out of order in the morning, and when I asked about a refund for the rooms due to the issues, I was met with a receptionist who had a very rude and dismissive attitude. I was also surprised to learn that rooms are not cleaned during your stay, which is not clearly communicated and not what I would expect. Due to all of the above, we checked out early (less than 24 hours after arrival) and had to find alternative accommodation. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and poor value for money. I am currently pursuing a refund"

"A great old hotel / pub with links to the TV show Dad's Army. The old part is atmosphric while the new part is comfy and modern. Great location in centre of town overlooking the river."

"Run away from the "KIng William" room 109 and Expedia. The shower controls were not working. The on/off control was not working so as you turned it, it went from off to trickle to off and anywhere in between. The hot cold went from cold to maybe warm, to off to trickle. What the heck. The second night I was allowed to go to room 106 so that I could take a better shower... newer controls but no hot water at all. On to room 105 with a working shower. If we had booked the place ourselves, we could have had a refund and left. We felt like we had no option to leave because there was no one to talk to at Expedia. the walls in 109 were also paper thin. We could hear the people next door as if they were in the room with us even though they were using a conversational volume. We even knew when they blew their nose. The second morning we left without even eating our "free" breakfast ~ that's how badly I wanted to get the heck out of there. I do have to say, though, the staff did what they could and were very friendly. I will never book thru Expedia again."

"We were pleasantly surprised that after seeing a few so-so reviews, that was not our experience at all - we had a great stay! The house and gardens are beautiful and while you'd expect a little wear and tear of a property that age, it was very impressive and looked after. We had one of the lodges at the side of the garden and really liked the little terrace outside our door that looked over the garden. The room couldn't be faulted, a very comfortable bed, lots of space and the bathroom was well equiped and spacious. Everything was clean and well maintained and the rainhead shower was strong and refreshing. We didn't see many staff, but the ones we did see were polite and helpful. There was a lot of choice at breakfast and I had the full vegetarian option - excellent scrambld eggs in particular. Overnight, strings of lights lit the garden and it was lovely to sit on the chairs they provided on our little terrace. We've reason to visit the area regularly now and we will try to stay there again."

"Another livery stay at the Dragonfly. The best thing about this hotel is the price and close proximity to Bury St Edmund’s town centre. The staff were very attentive and the rooms clean and comfortable. Lots of free parking and fast taxi service. It doesn’t have lots of amenities like swimming pool, golf course etc., but if you want somewhere like a Premier Inn then it’s great. A lot more people should consider this hotel as the cost of other hotels nearby seems to be increasing and this hotel chain is fair on price. We have not eaten here, so I can’t comment of the food."
