"Hotel is in a great location - just over 15 minute walk to the train station, close to shops and the Cathedral - looks like the downstairs has been elegantly renovated. Beautiful newly-refurbished bedroom, with some really thoughtful extra touches - such as a rubber bathmat and handrail, electric fan, suitcase stand, and biscuits every day with the tea and coffee. I liked being able to open the window.

"The property has recently been purchased by a new owner who has started to modernise the building. The hotel room that we stayed in was very large with a very comfortable bed and plenty of furniture to store items for a longer stay. There were the usual refreshment facilities that were stocked up everyday and the room was nice and clean with an excellent bathroom.
The staff were very welcoming, professional and always happy to serve. The restaurant food was very good quality and the portions...

"We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the room was extremely large, bathroom extremely small and dated. Amazing view from the bedroom we sat and enjoyed the view when the weather was rather unpredictable
Good parking
Food good standard, restaurant lacked character and atmosphere but the staff were excellent very friendly"

"A quick stay - so can't give 5* to something I didn't experience properly - nice clean room in a quirky but clean hotel - bedding was fabulous. Only met 2 staff - in and out - totally fine."

"Large clean room with crisp sheets on the bed. Both the bed and the pillows were too firm, resulting in limited sleep
I was convinced that continental breakfast was included when I booked the room. However the Expedia booking did not state that ,nor did the information sent to the Porters Lodge. The charge was though only £5 pp."

"A one night stay plus breakfast. Good. No issues.
Not that it was an issue for my stay but for future reference to consider permitting dogs. Maybe allocate some rooms for o/night stay with dogs.
Wonderful countryside location. You advertise walks. Missing out on a key £ market!"

"I stayed for a night with my partner recently and we were very happy with how kind and helpful the staff were, the cleanliness and comfort of the room, and the dinner we had at the adjoining pub! We would definitely stay here again 😊"
