"The Great Southern Hotel is in a perfect location, a 5-minute walk from Southern Cross (the main train and bus hub in Melbourne). It's also within the free team zone which makes for free and convenient transportation to most downtown locations. The hotel itself was great! Checkin and checkout were both easy, the room and facilities were very clean, and the staff was very hospitable and helpful."

"Clean, spacious, room, with a very comfortable bed, though we didn’t have towels on our last night/morning. That’s our only criticism. We didn’t have the hotel breakfast as there is a more than adequate cafe next door, which is more reasonably priced. Walkable to major attractions, restaurants and bars. Would definitely use again."

"The room was clean and comfortable with all amenities needed. The location was perfect with easy access to trains and trams and in walking distance of lots of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff were wonderful, especially Angie who arranged a last minute late check out for me. Couldnt fault the place! "
