"In general the hotel is very run down. Things falling apart and dysfunctional, including pool area and umbrellas and gardens. The resort is in desperate need of serious maintenance. Also, no wi fi in rooms for a 4 star hotel is not really acceptable. Poor conditions somewhat compensated for by the first class and much appreciated service from Petrus and some of his staff -especially chef and Thabisa."

"We had bats living in our roof, apparently knowingly by the owner (they built a house for them on the near cabin and they migrated to ours). We had to go to bed and sleep with constraint scratching and sliding noises, that was terrible. When we brought it to the attention of the team, they didn’t even bother apologising. The dinning experience over dinner and breakfast was terrible - worst service I’ve seen for a while and average food (it’s quite expensive considering its surroundings). Stay...

The Bungalow

Central Beach Area

10/10 Excellent

The bungalow is exceptional, set in a stunning beach location. The rooms are superb, very comfortable and all the amenities you need. There is also a large covered outside area in the trees overlooking the beach, with huge sofas and cussions as well as a firepit and braai which is great for relaxing after dinner - only for the use of those staying. There's a very good restaurant and bar open all day and evenings - food is delicious. The staff were also brilliant and could not have been more...

Owner invited us for a beer on arrival and helped point us in the right direction for somewhere good to eat that night. Property is laid out very well and room was spacious and clean with wonderful views on the bay. Did not get to use pool unfortunately ad we arrived close to sunset and left early the jext morning. Breakfast was fantastic, too much choice for us that morning as we were about to do a bungee jump and did not want to over eat! Very tasty and great choices. When we visit SA again we...

Starfish Guest Lodge

Robberg Beach

8/10 Good

Lovely quiet property with friendly staff who were happy to book restaurants taxis etc. Pool was very small & really only suitable as a plunge rather than a swim. Breakfast was well presented with a good variety of products. The feature I was not happy with was checking in at an alternative guest house but no directions given on where it was. We were advised it was not safe to walk after dark necessitating taxi use. Plettenberg Bay has lovely beaches which are great to stroll along.
