This ironstone church dates back to the 11th century and was restored in 1805 and 1874. There is a western tower, nave, chancel, vestry, and south porch. The west tower is Saxo-Norman, the ironstone being very weathered. The top part is 15th century, having a plain parapet with 19th-century pinnacles. There are three bells. The tower was restored in 2011. The tower arch is tall and was restored in the 1500s. The Royal coat of arms above it dates from post 1837, and is made of cast metal. Most of the rest of the church dates from the 1874 rebuilding with some mediaeval masonry retained. On the outside of the chancel wall is an early 12th century panel with various geometrical decorations. The fittings are all 19th-century, and the floor is paved with Minton tiles. The small organ is by Cuthbert of Hull from 1877. There are several stained-glass windows, dating from after the time of the 1874 rebuild.
