"Hotel Fort Des Moines is a beautiful old world hotel in downtown Des Moines with friendly staff and a great location to park and walk just about anywhere! Their speakeasy is fantastic! It has the BEST smoky old fashion I have ever had!"
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Des Moines Downtown
8/10 Good
"The young man that checked us in was outstanding and we were able to check in early. The hotel room was clean and comfortable but the elevators and outside landscape could use a little clean up. Breakfast was ok but not a fan of it. Parking is $20 per day so we'll find another hotel next time :("
"The entire hotel was amazing. Our room was immaculate and comfortable. Huge bathroom. Loved the fireplace. The decorations were unique and stylish. Even our time in the hot tub was good. One of the better hotels I've stayed at in years.
The breakfast is what a usual hotel breakfast was, before everybody else went cheap."
"The stay was fine. The beds are very hard and some people like hard beds but I prefer a cushy bed. The room was pretty clean but there were some hairs scattered about. In my opinion this was an average Marriott in which I consider Marriott to be higher end. This hotel would be more appropriately branded as a four points. The people are nice, room service and food was good, but asked for some utensils and took them 2 hours to bring to the room. I had already gone down to the coffee shop and grabbed some bagged utensils. Shuttle driver Jeff was the star of the show. He was amazing, took us to the fair and airport. Very nice guy, reliable and had tons of information. Food is lacking in the area on a weekend, but the hotel food was good. Probably wouldn’t stay here again though because of nothing open on the weekends and the hard beds."
"Curtains were very dirty. I would not sit on the chair in the corner, there was an unknown substance on it. The desk chair, kept moving down. It would not hold a higher setting. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean. Breakfast decent. Pool being refurbished. Lots of smoking at the front door."
"Their total parking lot was unavailable. A small lot was set aside for hotel parking. It was NOT enough. Towing signs were posted everywhere else near by. Free breakfast ended up being only for young children."
