"The apartment is spacious and clean. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes and appliances for a short stay. The TV is an appropriate size for the apartment and the closet has ample space.
We prefer firm mattresses and pillows and found the ones there a bit soft. Counter top space in the bathroom is limited. There is an abundance of towels though the large bath towels are made of a not very absorbent fabric. The dining table was rather small and the chairs were old and the upholstery needed cleaning.
The apartment is well located in a quiet spot and the boardwalk takes you right into the commercial area. When the weather is nice, you can admire the lovely view from the bedroom. The provision of a key code to open and lock the door is convenient. The island is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay."
"We liked the balcony and the view. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. There was sufficient parking. The staff were helpful and provided some recommendations for dining which were appreciated. We were surprised to learn the restaurant was under renovation but were happy with the other restaurants we found."
"The Pioneer Inn is an older property which appears from the outside to have seen better days.
However the friendly new owners are upgrading the interior. Our room was spacious & the beds were lovely. The floors were redone with new flooring , bathrooms vanity. etc.
The restaurant which is run by the hotel owners has delicious Asian food.
I enjoyed the beautifully presented tempura."
"Thank you so much for an awesome stay. The Inn was close to all the shops and the main St. Tina was so good to us! Thank you for the best fish and chips we ever had, the halibut was amazing! A wonderful birthday, Alert Bay we can't wait to come back and visit!"
"I can't say enough Orca Lodge and it's staff and owners. The best equipped kitchenette we've come across and the ocean front accommodations were awesome. The 75th birthday wishes complete with a saxophone playing happy birthday for my wife was awesome and something she will remember. Thank you Tina and company. We also got a flat tire with the owner putting us in touch with a local islander with a tire fixing unit. A trip saver as the new SUV does not come with a donut tire and no garages on Malcolm Island. Only bad thing was weather raining on our last day there. Will come again."
