"Lovely clean hotel. Nice decor in room , toilet was very small but we managed fine as we are not large people. The food was very good and Staff were friendly. We will definitely go back again."
"The hotel was recommended to me by family and I emailed them the 2nd day of my stay to thank them.
The hotel was excellent, a great location and outstanding view over Portpatrick. The meals were very good. The hotel was very clean and obviously well maintained with all amenities. The staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful and polite.
I will be going g back and will recommend this hotel to friends"
"Rooms: The rooms are big but you can hear everything, from people in other rooms to them in hallways to foot steps above you in their rooms. Barely slept due to all the noise.
Restaurant: good food but severely understaffed. Had our whole meal and not one drink was “ready” or brought over. I felt so bad for the staff.
Views: these were amazing and so worth a visit but next time I’d just stay elsewhere.
Overall: I wouldn’t stay there again but I would visit the area and have a drink on their patio."
"Best value hotel of our trip and the most comfy huge bed too. Ate at the hotel in the evening and that was tasty and good sized portions and a view of the sea from room and restaurant. The price was so good, they should be charging more, especially for breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful."
"The room was clean and bright and in good repair. Host was very kind and helpful. This is close to the ferry to Larne (about 10-25 minutes drive) which makes it very convenient. We could certainly stay here again. "
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kenmuir Arms hotel. Located in a wee picturesque village we found the staff friendly and accommodating. Room one was very clean with a very comfortable king-sized bed and the shower had great water pressure. Highly recommend the creative food prepared by international Chef-Patron Christopher Dougan (recently awarded in February 2025 Scotland's Dining Discovery of the Year and 5 AA Gold Stars and 2 AA Rosettes). Every meal was creatively prepared with local ingredients and fine dining flair, yet not overly pretentious. Chef was very accommodating for my request for gluten-free tasting menu at dinner. Every dish was delicious and it was a delight to not know what dish was coming next. The full Scottish breakfast with homemade sausage, black pudding, and haggis was a great way to start each day. The pub had selections of local beer and spirits. We were visiting the area to see Sam Heughan’s Galloway Distillery. It was a treat every afternoon to have drinks made with Harbor Hills Gin and Sassanach Vodka on the patio near a babbling brook and a stone bridge."
"We couldn’t get into the property because it has been closed to the public for some time, Expedia obviously didn’t know about that because they kept sending us emails regarding our stay and when we turned up There after a late night ferry crossing we were stuck in the back of beyond and having tried to book other hotels in Dumfries with no joy we won’t be using Expedia again ever!!
