BED BUGS!!!
Worst experience ever…. Athens was our first stop of the trip. I noticed red and itchy bumps around my neck after the second day. I thought it might have come from a flea from the cats roaming around the city, so I simply took a shower and put away the dirty clothes. I woke up in the middle of the following night (our last night there) by intense itchiness, and turned on the light… OMG! There were bugs in bed!!!! Five or six of them, of different sizes!!! I took pictures and Google searched. They are bedbugs! A total infestation! I freaked out and woke up the rest of my family.
I googled and learned more about bed beds than I ever wanted to know. Turns out that a good percentage of people don’t react to the bites while some have severe reactions. Also some people have delayed reactions. I continued to have new bumps showing up around my necks, arms and torso for the next few days, despite of us leaving the premise and putting everything through laundry. This seriously dampened our otherwise good vacation in Greece.
Also to add, I informed the front desk about the infestation. They came to the room and said that they were sorry about my experience and said that they will have pest control take care of it. Yet they did nothing for me, other than asking if there is anything they can help us with. Since at that point, we were checking out and leaving for our next destination, I wanted nothing from them but to get out of there!!
