"Stayed at the Lodges because the castle was unavailable. The lodge was very outdated. Definitely not a 4 star experience. We had a beautiful view of a field of dandelions. We were treated like second class citizens throughout our brief stay. Went to the castle to check in and was told check in was at the golf pro shop. Huh? Went to the pro shop five minutes before the 4pm check time and was casually told room wasn’t ready and to come back in 30 minutes. Was promised breakfast to-go at 7:30 since our flight out of Dublin airport was early and dining service did not start until 8am. Of course, no breakfast to-go was ready when we departed at 7:45. All of other stays in Ireland were outstanding. Take my advice, stay clear of the Lodges at Kilkea Castle. "
