"First up...the tricycle driver who picked up us brought us to the old and wrong spot for boat pickup. We finally called and said there will be a late fee of 700 per room cause we were not there at 2.00. We were there for 2 but was dropped off at wrong terminal. They did not want to hear about it neither and make it right. The property itself does not at all look like the pics u see online when there were newer. The aircons barely blow cold and the portable potty were quite nasty as well. We were...

Hof Gorei Beach Resort

8/10 Good

"Upon arrival we were greeted by at our car by helper’s to bring belongings up to the main house/ office. They were doing upgrades since pics had been posted. And concrete work on a drive area. The decent down to beach front is about 70 to 80 steep steps and inclines. There are 6 main huts there on the beach. Air-con and water heater in each. They are maintained and clean. You have a person assigned to you at the time you arrive to help with all your needs taking stuff down, foods, drinks. Our helper was Jeremy he was great. Make sure you tip them well. If they do great. They do have jet ski there to rent at 6500 per hour. You can also just do half hour as I was told. The food was pricey, and for the most it was pretty good. You also will be charged for your room fridge. So for our 3 night stay we had a bill of bit over 8k pesos. We did eat every meal there 3 times a day. The atmosphere there I would describe as native magical. You see fishing boats and people will come to sell pearls off and on. They do you a spring pool that needs some TLC the walls need to be brushed not bad. They have some trip hazards that need to be addressed like handrail going down the main steps. Also stepping stone that are sinking. But still not a bad pool. On the other side of the pool are some beautiful peacocks. It is great place will go again some day."

Floating Home in Reef Resort Unit 14

10/10 Excellent

"I booked the Floating Home in Reef Resort because I wanted to try something completely different, and that's exactly what I got. Being out on the water makes it unlike a normal hotel stay. The biggest issue is communication about arrival. It wasn't made clear beforehand that you have to take a barge to reach the resort, with an additional ₱1,000 charge. Luckily, I had a local Philippine phone, which made coordinating everything much easier. If you're a foreign traveler without a local number, I can see this being difficult and confusing. They need a better system for international guests and explain the transportation process before arrival. The property was only about a year old during my September 2026 stay, but some tents were already showing wear and small tears. The ocean environment will make maintenance a challenge, so I'd experience it while it's still new. The check-in area needs fans because it gets extremely hot in the morning. The staff, however, was absolutely amazing. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good for being in the middle of the ocean. It's fine for everyday internet use, but I wouldn't depend on it for important calls or video meetings. Another surprise: NO mosquitoes! Being surrounded by water, I expected them everywhere, but I didn't encounter any. For the price, this is great value. Don't go expecting luxury go for something different, affordable, and memorable. Right now, it's definitely worth experiencing."
