Eddington House Inn is a comfortable and attractive B & B. Although it lacks the prettiness of many New England B &B's, it is quite nice and my boyfriend and I enjoyed our weekend there. The owner of the inn, Patti, is a fount of knowledge about the local area and she is very happy to share what she knows and to talk about sites, drives and views so that you will get the most out of your stay in the Bennington area. The inn itself has three bedrooms and we stayed in the ground floor suite. We found, as some other reviewers have, that the shower was quite small and that the walls are are fairly thin. We also felt that the bed was too small for us and that the mattress was hard and somewhat uncomfortable. I was not impressed by the decor (I've been spoiled by some truly lovely and romantic places in northern New England) but that's not to say that it was unattractive or uncomfortable. When I made the reservation, I did tell Patti that this was a very special weekend for my boyfriend and me and that I hoped the room would be very pretty and she assured me that that would be the case. However, there were no special touches that I could see---the bathroom amenities were somewhat sparing (only one small bar of soap and a little sample bottle of shampoo were included) and only a small vase of flowers were included. My feeling is that other inns will feel more romantic to people traveling (as we did) for a special getaway.
