"The staff are amazing and the breakfast was a surprising delight. My biggest issue was the need for the rooms to be better. The beds had serious stains on the mattress that had me thinking there had been a murder scene in there. The sheets were clean enough but I always pull back the sheets to check for bed bugs and was horrified. It definitely had seen better days. The mattress was also flattened. I like a hard bed but I don’t like to feel the springs. I’m sure the staff would have accommodated, but honestly it just seemed like the hotel had seen better days. They do a great job of trying to make it nicer, but management or the owner need to buy new beds and remodel. "

"The check in is the worse I’ve ever experienced and they also asked for a room deposit even though everything was paid for. The beds are small and uncomfortable (queen size where other hotels have king size as standard). There’s no room for hanging or storing clothing. No desk area for my partner to do her makeup etc. the windows don’t open for any fresh air to come into the room. The breakfast was disappointing as some things were overcooked and some were just as though they had been prepared overnight and just left keeping warm. Staff were helpful and at least got us a few more hangers but the bar to hang them was about a foot in length which is no good if like us you were staying for 5 nights and had quite a bit of clothing for two people. We definitely won’t be using Hampton by Hilton again. "

"The property is in the middle of town so very convenient for a look around the following day. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us in the room (69 year olds). The beds were comfy and clean as was the bathroom. The decor was a little sad in the rooms but the comfort and price more than met expectations. My biggest concern was that we were put in the 2nd floor, with no lift and I have big mobility problems and struggled to get up and down the stairs. When asked if there was a similar room on the bottom floor I was told it was for two adults and a child only. I feel this is discriminating against disabled people (pensioners) who may not want a single room. And the risks of vacating the hotel in case of a fire would be a huge problem. To finish on a high note, the breakfast was very good, and we went back for a drink at lunch time and the food looked amazing but we were too full to eat after the size of the breakfast. "

"The room was not clean when we entered. There were dead bugs in the tub and some unknown substance near the sink. The white towels had brown / red stains. We asked for a change of the towels and those also had brown / red stains. Hotel is pretty old - paint is flaking off everywhere. No slippers in the room (had to ask for it). No tooth brush / tooth paste. Calls to conceirge were not answered. In terms of staff, I expected them to move my bags into my room given I'd dropped off my bags with them prior to my check in and then went outside for lunch / to explore the city. Spa wise - pretty well equipped with 2 saunas, 1 steam room, 1 salt room and 1 ice room. "

"After an incorrect booking at another hotel - the Holiday Inn Express - IHG were on hand to help. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout my stay. At check in the member of staff explained the parking rules and confirmed a deal for reduced parking rate - Thank you Nella! I would highly recommend staying here and will be staying here again in the future! Thanks"

"Kitchen had just closed when I arrived in the evening (midweek) but remaining catering staff offered me soup and sandwiches. Always a most enjoyable stay."
