The room was falling apart. The shower handle was loose and it took several minutes to figure the right temperature. The ac unit was very loud. The staff was helpful and nice. Only stayed here because it was one of the cheaper hotels for a VT game weekend. Guess we got what we paid for (probably double or triple the normal room rate on non-game weekends).

Super 8 fit my desire for a safe and convenient place to stay near Virginia Tech. Staff were friendly and kind and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to a number of restaurants, stores, and the university, and it was the best price of the hotels I searched. Breakfast is quite sparse, and the amenities and general "feel" are fairly no-frills, but it fit the bill for my purposes, and I had a very nice experience.

If you are looking for a decent internet connection, don't stay here. Otherwise, it is a great place to stay. It is close to many amenities, clean, and all around nice hotel.

The hotel does well to clean the rooms, but there is strong smell from the cleaning solution (and possibly mixed with smoke - even in a nonsmoking room). Sheets and pillows are new and clean. Blankets were very old. Recommend bringing a blanket from home.
