"I've stayed at Old Silk Appartments twice so far in apartments 8 and 9. Both I found spotless, white soft towels, comfy beds, tastefully decorated well maintained and adequately appointed. Large fridge freezer, 4 ring hob oven and microwave, basic set of kitchen utensils and a couple of pans adequate to cook something simple. "We booked a two night stay as we had booked theatre tickets, the location was fantastic and having parking available, albeit for a price, was helpful. All the staff were friendly and helpful although we were initially sent to the wrong bedroom at the end of a very long corridor which we then had to walk back with luggage…. We understand these things happen but not the ideal welcome. Our room was comfortable & clean, unfortunately the upgrading of the air conditioning hadn’t reached it but there was a fan provided which helped. My only real criticism would be the shower over the bath, which I had difficulty setting to a reasonable temperature and the water pressure was poor, a grab handle to facilitate climbing in and out would also have been helpful."

"Large, spacious hotel, staff were friendly. Room wasn’t the quietest, could hear neighbouring rooms’ toilets flushing, hairdryers being used and doors banging. Did put a request on our booking that was ignored and were charged a ‘service charge’ without my permission on a food order I made at the bar on some light bites, so basically paid nearly £5 for someone to bring it from the kitchen!"

"We stayed for one night in a suite booked through Expedia and unfortunately the experience did not meet expectations, particularly given the price paid. We chose the suite because it was advertised as having a separate sitting area and complimentary WiFi. However, the room did not appear to have a genuinely separate seating area as described, and we were not provided with any WiFi information on arrival. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues, including a broken and unstable table, an empty shower gel dispenser, an unpleasant odour coming from the bathroom, and a room telephone that did not work. We also attempted to contact room service at around 7pm and received no answer. The sofa bed was particularly disappointing. Our child, who normally sleeps very well, struggled to sleep on it and we did not feel it was suitable for use as a child's bed. The room was extremely hot on arrival, with the windows and curtains left open on one of the hottest days of the year. Despite putting the fans on immediately, it took a long time for the room to become comfortable. The hotel itself felt tired and dated in several areas and would benefit from refurbishment and improved maintenance. We were also disappointed by the breakfast arrangements. Information provided stated that weekday breakfast, including Mondays, was served from 7:00am. However, as it was a Bank Holiday Monday, breakfast did not start until 8:00am. "This charming hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes walk crossing the footpath bridge over the River Avon to The Royal Shakespeare Company Theater, Holy Trinity Church, Shakespeare’s birthplace, local restaurants, shopping and things to see. Beautiful area! My room was modest yet very clean & comfortable, the front desk team was courteous, and the breakfast included with my stay was a nice surprise (basic options of coffee/tea/baked goods/yogurt/cereals and fruit) and I enjoyed the delicious egg scramble for an extra cost. The Bear is a cozy downstairs pub adjacent to the lobby and serves traditional English pub food- I had an acceptable serving of fish and chips with mushy peas and a drink before heading out to see a play at The RSC! (There is also a fine dining restaurant, Bistrot Pierre, adjacent to the lobby I did not eat at, however, I heard good reviews in town from others about it). I recommend this lovely, quiet, and well maintained property and plan to come back! The photo of Ferris wheel is the view from my room. Others about town …"
