"Walls are paper thin and you can hear people above you throughout the night. It was a rough 2 day experience, but lodging really is limited around the park so it did its purpose."
"The room itself was fine for what we paid. We stayed for one night just needing a place to sleep along our journey. No amenities, other than a coffee pot in the room. Very few guests, us and maybe two other couples, if that.
We were in a room next to the exit door and there was someone coming and going until at least 230am, slamming the door every 2-5 minutes. I would recommend not getting a room next to the exit/ entrance doors.
Person who checked us in was nice and helpful but she either had allergies or was sick and was snorting snot the whole time she checked us in."
"room clean, but rug old and worn, Lots of weeds even blocking room location signs and water wheel, Never had an on the floor air conditioner with a tube going out the window before. Unit was loud so I didnt use it completely detracted from the charm of the room. didnt sleep well either. Breakfast basket sandwich didnt have a top. The Inn and grounds have nice possibilities, but needs better care. Staff friendly."
"I had an overall pleasant stay at the Gateway Inn in Ashford, Washington. One of the biggest advantages of this property is its location—being right near the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park makes it incredibly convenient for anyone planning to explore the area. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and really adds to the experience. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
There were a few drawbacks, however. The room we stayed in had a noticeable slant to the floor, which was a little unusual and took some getting used to. The internet service was also spotty at times, although the hotel does disclose this ahead of time, so it wasn't entirely unexpected given the location. Additionally, there were no TV channels available during our stay, which may be disappointing for guests looking to relax indoors after a day of exploring.
That said, if your main goal is to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Rainier and stay close to the park entrance, Gateway Inn is a convenient option with friendly service and a great setting. Just be prepared for a few rustic quirks that come with staying in such a remote and scenic area."
