  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. We stayed in the apartments in the building around the corner. Great size for a family of 5. Spacious rooms, very clean with all amenities expected. A few minutes walk to the centre. Nice location.

Nothing was too much for the staff at this hotel. They were so helpful and polite. The hotel was spotless and really well cleaned. Breakfast was set out really nicely and there was a good range of food on offer. The hotel is located in a convenient position and it is was to walk into the centre of the city.

I can't recommend this property enough! The location was fantastic, the rooms were spacious and clean, the communication with staff was excellent. We had the family apartment, which was technically two rooms, it worked out perfectly for what we needed. Hopefully I'll make it back to Bruges one day, and I will absolutely be staying here again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is a quick cab ride away from the train station at about 12euro. The room was very clean and it has a mini fridge, coffee maker, and a decent blow dryer. The city center is a less than 5 minute walk. There are many restaurants nearby. The breakfast was very good with a large variety of foods. The staff was helpful in giving us suggestions and ordering cabs etc. It was a safe, clean hotel.

We've been to Bruges many times, but this was our first time staying at Aragon. In short, we loved it. Great location, great room, great elevator, friendly and helpful staff. We'll definitely stay here again on our next trip to beautiful Bruges.

Our experience at Aragon House was marred by a bed bug infestation. After my daughter developed itchy welts, we discovered bed bugs in our room and alerted the front desk, who confirmed the issue and moved us. Despite this, management refused a full refund, insisting we brought the bugs from Paris and blaming us for not notifying them sooner or using housekeeping. Their response was dismissive and unsympathetic. Research revealed past complaints about bed bugs and similar treatment. Although our clothing was washed, items like suitcases were not, yet the bites stopped after leaving Aragon House. A specialist later found no trace of bed bugs among our belongings. I write this as a warning: if you’re visiting Brugges, consider staying elsewhere.

Das Familienzimmer mit Küchenecke war im Aragon House untergebracht (um die Ecke von Aragon Hotel). Es war für 2 Erwachsene mit Kind ausreichend groß und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück im Aragon Hotel war sehr gut. Lage auch sehr schön: in 2 Minuten vom Hotel zum großen Marktplatz gelaufen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden!

Not matching the standards

Although the hotel at first seemed to fit the star rating and Price level it has severe issues: - You Can hear Doors in hallway on all floors being opened and closed (slams), which Wakes the light sleepers all night (this is increddible annoying). - No clean up service in the 3 nights we stayed there - sometimes a strange sewage smell in room. - No option for breakfast ( might be Corona related)
