"Overall very satisfactory, but let down by the lack of a thermostatic mixer valve on the over bath shower, so that water temperature fluctuated between freezing cold and scalding hot. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed."
"Lovely old property in need of some TLC. My room was in the basement so was a bit fusty but the bed was comfy and there was lots of hot water for showering."
"Excellent place to stay when visiting the high peak area. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked.
Only a small point to consider. Check the parking area if you have a large car as the parking is a little tight"
"We stayed 3 nights at the Kingscroft Guest House. Vol was very welcoming from the moment we walked in their front door. He was very detailed in explaining how everything worked in our room, as well as other features of the house. He often gave us tips for exploring and eating in the area. There were many options for breakfast and Victoria was spending time during the day to test new recipes to please people from different countries and cultures. We enjoyed her efforts to cook both traditional, but also unique offerings."
"Very well appointed room with a lot of attention to detail.
Reception staff particularly friendly and helpful.
Although the restaurant was only open for breakfast as we visited on a Monday the food was excellent and the choice extensive.
Would certainly visit again!"
"From checking in to checking out the experience was first class. The staff were warm and welcoming with a professional and friendly attitude. The breakfast was excellent as was dinner in the restaurant. We will definitely be back again. Thanks to everyone for making our wedding anniversary weekend so special."
"The location is great and the countryside scenery is beautiful. There is a large free car park and check in was easy. The room was nicely decorated. The bar area was a little dated but quirky and cosy. I did however feel that it was mis-advertised on hotels.com as it clearly states "housekeeping (daily)". There wasn't any housekeeping and the room wasn't cleaned throughout our stay, nor was anything replenished which was disappointing. One tiny plastic shower gel bottle is not sufficient for 2 people staying for 2 nights! Towels should be changed and coffee/milk should be topped up. There was a file in the room that stated not to leave the radiators on "as they didn't want to heat the whole of Derbyshire" which I thought was just entertainment from a jokey type of host but upon meeting them I realised they were serious and weren't particularly friendly or hospitable! This place has so much potential but I did feel that the service was a bit unfriendly."
