"Everything bout Hotel Sovestro was perfect. It's easy to get to, parking is right in front, we were greeted by staff (family owners!), our room had a patio onto the large and pleasant pool area, there is a bar with a very friendly and helpful bar owner, a Michelin star restaurant where the matriarch of the family prepares amazing dinners (wait until you see the breakfast buffet). Again, EVERYTHING about the hotel is top notch (location, staff, amenities, cleanliness, furnishings, the bed, the towels, etc). AND! the family has their own winery across the street where you can have wine tastings from delicious wines they create from their own grapes on their property. The value of a stay at this property is amazing. The patriarch of the family drives a shuttle bus to San Gimignano (2 km distant) every couple of hours: it is one of the best preserved medieval fortress towns in all of Italy. We walked back on a nearly deserted country road, view of San Gimignano all the way, one of the best things we did during our stay. Be sure and ask the way to walk back to Hotel Sovestro. This lodging has our highest of all ratings!"

"Hotel is right in the center of Gimignano. The staff were nice and able to check in early at 12:30pm. The room is large, clean, and quiet. The shower flow is very good but the tub is leaking a lot. Nearest parking lot is 600 meters away in P2 - parking lot is open and cost 15 euros per day. No in and out privilege. I would love to come back and stay here again."

"No Heat, No Host Communication and Awkward. We got lucky with check in that the daughter answered the door and let us in. We never saw the host. I thought this was more of a hotel or bed and breakfast than a room in someone's house as it was. We ordered a double room and it was three rooms on the third floor of the property (One being the daughter of the hosts room) and two rooms that we did stay in and a shared bathroom. The daughter did not share the bathroom but it was clear it was hers usually. The pictures show a de-cluttered cuter version of what was there. They are storing (and not in a cute way) there things in these rooms too. Downstairs there was a very small room with a couch I suppose we could have used but it was awkward. We never really saw anyone and never the host the entire stay. I messaged the host twice and never heard back. We wanted wine glasses and for them to turn ON the heat. Yes, there was no heat! It was so cold we didn't want to shower! I think it had to be 55 degrees in there. I expected quaint in San Gimignano for this price, but this was not a comfortable stay. "
